La Grange, Saturday April 22, 11a.m-2p.m.
Paul Smithson is a musician, singer, and songwriter who hails from Buffalo, New York. He moved to Florida in his mid-teens and aside from spending 10 years wandering the deserts of California has spent most of his life in Lake County. Paul has performed both as a solo artist and as a side musician with a variety of groups for over 30 years. In addition to his solo performances, he is currently performing with La Grange on guitar, mandolin, and dobro. Paul recently released his solo CD, “The Devil in the Grove”.
Joe Ramirez started playing bass guitar as a teen-ager as he pursued a career in the printing business. Years later Joe started to play regularly again with local Lake County favorites M.T. Pawketts. After sitting in with other local artists and bands Joe teamed up with songwriter John French to do a benefit for the Lake County Folk Festival in 2008 and now handles the bass guitar duties for La Grange.
John French has spent the last few years as the front man of his own band The John French Connection and released his solo CD “All Roads” in 2011. After putting his own band on hold John has teamed up with fellow bandmates Paul Smithson and Joe Ramirez to form a new band known simply as La Grange. John brings songwriting skills, vocals, and guitar in collaboration with Paul Smithson to give La Grange a fresh new sound.
